Will the hospital be open for the community to view before October 2?
MTMC will have a community celebration on September 25 for the community to tour the new MTMC. Details will be announced at a later date.
Are the patient rooms different than the current patient rooms?
Yes, the patient rooms are much larger at the new MTMC. Spacious rooms in the new MTMC provide family zones, offering comfort for family and visitors staying with their loved one. The family area includes a sofa bed and a separate television. Each room has a large window for maximum natural light which has been shown to facilitate the healing process. All rooms are private with a private, handicap accessible bathroom.
How many floors are at the new hospital?
There are 7 floors at the new MTMC. The fourth through seventh floor are identical and same-handed patient rooms, meaning they are identical rather than traditionally mirrored rooms. This allows the room's layout to become intuitive to caregivers, eliminating time-waste and confusion.
How much will the new hospital cost?
The project is expected to cost $267 million. In addition to the hospital facility, the DePaul Medical Office Building is on the site.. The hospital will have 286-beds with shelled space for additional beds as the community grows.
What will happen to the current hospital?
MTMC has put together an Advisory Council to ensure that the community’s best interests are served after the medical center moves its operations to 1700 Medical Center Parkway. The board is comprised of community and business leaders from Rutherford County.
Why did the hospital need to move to a new location?
Two primary reasons: accessibility and no room to grow. The Gateway location will provide ample room for growth and easy access for our patients from throughout the region with direct interstate access via Medical Center Parkway exit on I-24.
When will the new hospital open?
The hospital is scheduled to be complete in August of 2010 and will move in during the month of October
